So what is Reiki - and is it something I can get on board with

Updated: Jan 18, 2022

Reiki is a tricky one to get out there! Which is why, maybe, it should be left, with people gravitating towards it off-their-own-bat. As oppose to big companies shoving it in people’s faces whilst making people feel they need it in their lives; no one NEEDS anything.

Reiki was passed down from the 19th century Japanese spiritual practitioner - Mikao Usui.

And throughout the last 100 years Reiki has been used for the release of emotional and physical disorders.

The symbols Reiki masters use are shrouded is mystery, there's an unwritten rule that they can’t be used in marketing material or shared unless you yourself have trained in Reiki.

Our body has multiple systems simultaneously working; such as our nervous and respiratory system.

A system which perhaps is less explored but notheless gaining more interest is our energy system.

We are constantly giving and receive energy and reiki works on the principle that there are seven major energy wheels (data banks) that run through our body; they’re commonly known as chakras.

These energy centres hold their own unique vibration and quality and is where information is mostly picked up from; be it depletions, tensions, blockages, emotions etc.

The importance of these energy centres are that they play a vital role in our health and maintenance of physical body.

As a reiki practitioner I pick up on information through slight changes to the energy system. I work with a small collection of symbols (I was telling you about earlier) and other modalities such as mantras and breathwork, through this I can amplify reiki energy to enhance shifts.

My role is to feedback information picked up.

Reiki brings about a great state of relaxation which is required for the healing session and can provide many different experiences. It’s very much an excuse to check in with yourself and become aware (conscious) of emotions that arise as this gives us greater control over them, rather than it being the other way around.

As a receiver it’s highly valuable to trust that any information received has come at the right time this is vital to the persons personal growth. Often our inner guide is strong and we know what needs to be done. Awareness of emotions as they arise is crucial to understand how they affect us. The aim is to express rather than suppress. Experience it, process it, live it. That way the feeling is released a lot quicker, clearing space for new patterns to emerge which serve and support us to a higher ability.
